Military & Royal Patronage

We are honoured to have held Royal patronage since 1910, and it is a privilege to continue this tradition with His Majesty The King, Charles III, HFRINA (Honorary Fellow). The Institution was granted its Royal Charter in 1910, revised in 1960, reflecting its enduring role in advancing the art and science of naval architecture.

Throughout its history, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects has maintained close connections with the Royal Navy and international defence communities, contributing to the design, construction, and innovation of naval vessels. This heritage underscores our commitment to supporting maritime excellence and resilience in service of both national and global interests.
